There's a major shortage of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 physical copies on PS5 right now, with every major online retailer in the US, including Amazon and Best Buy, completely sold out of the critically acclaimed RPG.

Already touted as a potential Game of the Year contender, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a brilliant game and absolutely worth your attention (IGN awarded it a 9/10 in its review).

But if you're hoping to get your hands on a physical edition for PS5, you might be out of luck for the moment. Most retailers are wiped out, and Amazon’s rare restocks vanish almost instantly every time new copies appear.

This kind of scarcity is unusual for a standard edition release in 2025, especially for such a popular title. The Xbox version is still available at Best Buy for $49.99, but the PS5 physical edition is currently unavailable across the board.

It's unclear what's causing such scarcity, whether it's plain popularity or a lack of supply, but for now, those looking to play the game will have to stick with purchasing via a digital-only platform.

Amazon still remains your best shot at grabbing a copy, if you’re patient, that is. Whether you prefer physical games or want it for your collection, keep the product page bookmarked, in your wishlist, and check in regularly. You can also follow @IGNDeals on Twitter/X for alerts the moment it comes back in stock.

Otherwise, you can still buy the game digitally on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation, and it’s also available through Xbox Game Pass.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the debut title from French studio Sandfall Interactive, and has outperformed all expectations since its launch in April this year.

It's sold over 3.3 million copies, which is a remarkable return for a game everyone thought was going to get crushed by The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered (which surprise released only two days after Clair Obscur).

Developer Sandfall also recently said it was "currently exploring a wide range of future improvements" to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

In a social media post, the developer said these improvements — "from accessibility features to new content and all sorts of bits and bobs we're actively assessing" — will also include expanded localization options.

"While we don't have specific timelines or confirmed languages to share just yet," the team added, "we wanted to let you know that it's very much on our radar. Wheee!"
