Halo was a groundbreaking video game on a number of fronts. Right out of the gate, it cemented Microsoft’s new Xbox console as a serious competitor for Sony and Nintendo. It established a first-person shooter control scheme for controllers that we basically still use today. And the music… well, it was instantly iconic and remains so today. The music rules.
Now, Halo Studios and Laced Records are putting out remastered original soundtracks for Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, and Halo 3 on vinyl, available individually or in a collected set (see it on Amazon or the IGN Store).
Also available individually
The soundtracks are set to release on April 4 and are available for preorder on Amazon right now. If you buy the whole set, it costs $200.98. Purchased individually, the price totals $195, so that’s the better value, oddly enough. That said, the Amazon preorder price guarantee means you’ll be locked into the lowest price any of these items drop to prior to release. So preorder now, and you’ll pay the lowest price.
All told, if you buy the complete set, you get 83 songs spread across eight heavyweight LPs. All of the tracks are specially remastered for vinyl and come in a wide-spined outer sleeve, with printed inner sleeves.
That's a lot of great music right there. These soundtracks have the iconic main theme, complete with choral singing, plus lots of exciting tracks filled with strings and driving percussion. It's the good stuff, particularly for anyone who grew up playing the Halo games on Xbox and Xbox 360.
For more, check out the best Xbox deals available now, including a huge discount on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which lets you play Indiana Jones and the Great Circle for no additional charge.
